LIMASSOL COVID-FRIENDLY CARNIVAL CELEBRATIONS

The Municipality of Limassol, honouring the tradition and sending a message of hope throughout Cyprus, organizes this year a series of events for the great popular celebration of carnival. A celebration that has been going on for over 100 years regardless of political and economic conditions.

This year, in the midst of the pandemic, the Limassol Carnival will have a different character, but will have the same goal as every year. To offer the world joy, fun and optimism for a better tomorrow. In ways compatible with epidemiological data, the Limassol Municipality proves that even in difficult times, traditions are not abandoned, but kept alive and addressed all over the world, regardless of age and social origin.

Based on the epidemiological data to date, the following events are planned:

  • Municipal Palace painting exhibition in collaboration with the Association of Self-Taught Painters (E.N.A.Z)
  • Municipal Cultural Center Panos Solomonides Photography Exhibition in collaboration with the Cyprus Photographic Society - Limassol And Cartoon Branch in collaboration with the Association of Cypriot Cartoonists "GEL.A" and the "Laboratory of Cartoon and Sketch Pin".

The exhibition will be open : Friday 5 March, Monday 8 March, Tuesday 9 March, Wednesday 10 March, Thursday 11 March and Friday 12 March from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • King Lemesius the Maharaja of the City will roam the main streets of the city on his chariot from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday (Tsiknopente) March 4, Saturday, March 6th and Sunday, March 14th giving a Carnival note to the city.
  • Friday 5.3.2021 – Patichio Municipal Theatre 7:00 p.m. Performance "It was the lift" (live online)
  • Tuesday 9.3.2021 Pattichio Municipal Theatre 7:00 p.m. Pellomaskas and smart skin contest accompanied by DJ MadMax (live online)
  • Friday 12.3.2021 - Patichio Municipal Theatre 7:00 p.m. Performance "As if it were yesterday" (live online)
  • Saturday 13.3.2021 - Patichio Municipal Theatre 7:00 p.m. Cantadador Night (live online)
