In the creation of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Economic Crime (Y.D.O.E.) the Police Leadership proceeded, within the framework of the measures and actions announced by the Government to fight corruption.
According to a statement, the Ministry of Justice, which is part of the Anti-Crime Department of the Police Headquarters, is composed of scientifically trained and specialized personnel to investigate serious cases of an economic nature. To this end, moreover, the Police recently recruited four accountants/auditors.
The Directorate for the Prosecution of Economic Crime has competence and scope throughout the Territory of the Republic and operates in it two Branches:
•Economic Crime Investigation Branch (C.D.O.E.), which is staffed with properly trained and experienced investigators, to investigate serious and complex cases of an economic nature.
•Economic Research Branch (C.O.E.), which consists of specialized accountants/auditors and police investigators to conduct financial investigations.
