398 NEW CASES - SATURDAY

The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday 398 new cases of coronavirus with the positivity rate at 0.91%. No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 238.

At the same time, the Ministry announced that 201 patients are being treated, 34 of them in serious condition.

A total of 398 cases were detected in a total of 43,940 disease detection tests using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test. The total number of cases is 39,277.

A total of 201 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 34 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 34 patients critical, 18 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in an Increased Care Unit.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 238, of which:

  • 158 men (66%), and
  • 80 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 201 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 34 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 34 patients critical, 18 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 43,940 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 3,232 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 40,708 using the antigen rapid test, 398 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 147 cases from 927 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
  • 2 cases from 794 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 35 cases from 1,097 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 8 cases from 228 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 3 cases from 144 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme.
  • 8 cases from 420 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
  • 195 cases from 40,288 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 42 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.

398 people tested positive today in Covid-19 in Cyprus, through a total of 43,940 molecular (PCR) disease detection tests and the antigen rapid test.

Most of them, namely 107, were found in Limassol province, where the positivity rate stands at 0.87%.
