The vaccination portal is experiencing ‘some technical issues’, the deputy ministry for research, innovation and digital policy said on Wednesday, about an hour after the portal opened for appointments for people aged 69 and over.
It said that the glitches arose because of the increased volumes of applications to book an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine.
“The deputy ministry is working intensively, in cooperation with all involved agencies and service providers for the immediate resolution of the problems and is asking the public to show patience and understanding,” the announcement said.
It said that it would be issuing a new announcement once the issues are resolved, and apologised for the inconvenience.
A total of 17,496 vaccination slots were made available on the vaccination portal at 9 am on Wednesday for people aged 69 and above.
But CyBC reported receiving numerous complaints as people trying to book a slot found themselves unable to access the portal. Others however sent in messages to say they had been successful.
NB - By 1045am the system was showing that all appointments for Paphos [Paphos General, Polis General and Palia Ilektriki] were fully booked!
