BUILDINGS ILLUMINATED FOR THE 200th ANNIVERSARY OF 1821

At a press conference, held today at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, the Minister of Education, Mr. Prodromos Prodromos, announced that, in the context of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, symbolic buildings will be illuminated with national colours.

In particular, Mr. Prodromos said: "I would like to announce that in the context of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the National Revolution of 1821 and Paligencesia, as I informed the other day and the Ambassador of Greece, Mr. Theocharis Lalakos, we will symbolically illuminate certain buildings with national colours.

Specifically, from 24 March to 1 April, the building of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, as well as a school in every city in Cyprus, will be illuminated with the national colours in honour of the Revolution of 1821.

Some school buildings have been selected for this purpose in a central and prominent position to serve our purpose.

  • In Nicosia, the 1st Technical School will be illuminated at the entrance of the city, as well as the Cyprus High School.
  • In Limassol, the Lyceum of Apostle Paul and Peter,
  • In Larnaca the Cyprus Lyceum,
  • In Paphos, the Lyceum of Archbishop Makarios III and
  • In Paralimni the Lyceum of Paralimni

In addition, after consultations made, the central stage of the country, the GSP, will be illuminated with the national colours, from 24 to 28 March.
