The Cyprus Animal Party invites the minister responsible and the government in general, always taking into account the well-meaning interests of animal welfare and within the framework of their animal welfare policies, as they proceed with the necessary legislation or other arrangements, for the immediate implementation of the extrajudicial regulation of animal welfare and possession offences.
In a communication, it notes that in too many cases it found that the animals either had no food, or were living in their own faeces or because of the lack of care and complete indifference of the guardians, the competent veterinary services were limited to recommendations, which were not potentially dissuasive, but did not oblige the animal's guardian to comply with the provisions of the legislation.
"This situation must finally be stopped through legislative adaptation. Veterinary services should be able to issue out-of-court documents on the spot (as does the Department of the Environment and the Hunting Service and the Police Force itself) in order to keep the offenders accounted for," he added.
