364 new cases of coronavirus in Cyprus announced for today Friday the Ministry of Health. No deaths were also reported due to the disease.
The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 19, 2021:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded and therefore the total number of deaths remains 241.
- 204 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 45 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 57,791 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 364 (positivity rate: 0.63%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 41,475.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 241, of which:
- 160 men (66%), and
- 81 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 204 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 45 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 45 patients critical, 15 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 24 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 57,791 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 3,002 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 54,789 using the antigen rapid test, 364 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 93 cases from 770 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 1 case of 542 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 44 cases from 1,311 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 15 cases from 300 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 12 cases from 618 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 199 cases from 54,171 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 79 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
In detail, the rapid antigen detection tests were carried out today as follows:
* In cooperation with employers' organisations, consumables were provided by the Ministry of Health and on-site checks were carried out on companies that expressed interest. It concerns checks carried out in the period 13-19 March.
