Two deaths and 326 new cases of COVID-19 disease were announced by the Ministry of Health on Sunday.
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease, concern a woman, aged 69 years, with underlying diseases, with a history of vaccination (1st dose) who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital and a man, aged 74 years, with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 252, of which 168 are men (67%), and 84 women (33%).
According to a communication from the Ministry of Health, a total of 55,090 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
The 326 new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 44,631. The positivity rate stood at 0.59%.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 196 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 52 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 52 patients critical, 21 are intubated, nine are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 55,090 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,132 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 52,958 using the antigen rapid test, 326 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 75 cases from 508 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 28 cases from 901 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 6 cases from 159 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 5 cases from 361 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme.
- 212 cases from 52,958 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 203 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
