The Ministry of Health announces that today, 3 March 2021:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 232.
- 89 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 22 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 33,194 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 323 (positivity rate: 0.97%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 35,620.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 232, of which:
- 155 men (67%), and
- 77 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 89 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 22 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 22 patients critical, nine are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and nine in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 33,194 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 2,929 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 30,265 using the antigen rapid test, 323 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 95 cases from 751 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) of cases.
- 27 cases from 1,253 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 1 case of 260 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 10 cases from 370 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 6 cases from 239 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 184 cases from 30,026 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 295 samples taken under passenger control at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
High daily numbers of cases of coronavirus remain, with the Ministry of Health announcing on Wednesday afternoon 323 new cases out of a total of 33,194 disease detection tests.
Of these, 184 cases were detected from 30,026 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
