303 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 7, 2021 a person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 233.

Further, according to the communication:

- 129 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 25 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 46,544 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

-    303 (positivity rate: 0.65%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 36,878.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

- Male, aged 89, with underlying disease, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 233, of which:

- 156 men (67%), and

- 77 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 129 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 25 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 25 patients critical, 13 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 11 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test)

Of the 46,544 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 1,353 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 45,191 using the antigen rapid test, 303 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

• 104 cases from 627 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.

• 9 cases from 333 samples taken through a private initiative.

• 5 cases from 166 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.

• 2 cases from 116 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.

• 183 cases from 45,075 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

• 227 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through public health clinics

183 positive results were obtained today from 45,075 samples, tested using the antigen rapid test, through the Ministry of Health programme.

Although the highest rate of positivity was again detected in Limassol, it is worth noting that there is a decrease of 0.79%, compared to 1.08% yesterday and generally more than 1% in the previous days.
