Cases of coronavirus in Cyprus decreased today, according to the Ministry of Health, after reaching 273 and no deaths were recorded.

In particular, according to the Communication:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 232.

- 111 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 27 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 57,926 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

- 273 (positivity rate: 0.47%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 36,277.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 232, of which:

- 155 men (67%), and

- 77 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 111 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 27 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 27 patients critical, 12 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 57,926 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 2,326 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 55,600 using the antigen rapid test, 273 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

-58 cases from 555 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) of cases.

-1 case of 502 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.

- 21 cases from 970 samples taken through a private initiative.

- 4 cases from 265 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.

- 5 cases from 242 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.

- 184 cases from 55,358 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

34 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.

In detail, the rapid antigen detection tests were carried out today as follows:

Final column - Rate of positivity


Rapid antigen testing checks on staff and students of private and public Lyceums and Technical Schools in Cyprus were carried out today by the Ministry of Health.

In total, mobile sampling units conducted tests in 36 schools in all provinces. A total of 10,147 subjects were subjected to rapid testing and 11 positive results were identified.
