RAPID TEST MANDATORY FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF

 Filenews 27 February 2021

From the investigation and tracing so far of the current positive cases OF COVID-19, it appears at first sight that, in addition to intra-family transmission of the virus, there is dispersion in school units, mainly by staff, but also students through their family environment.

Following this development, in consultation with the Ministry of Education, it was decided that all teachers and school staff must undergo a weekly rapid antigen test starting tomorrow. Teachers and school staff can carry out the test either free of charge at the sampling points of the Ministry of Health or privately at their own expense. It is stressed that the negative result certificate is a prerequisite for their return to their workplace from 1 March and should be presented during the checks to be intensified from Monday.

At the same time, a strict recommendation is made to students as they conduct a rapid test, with the consent of their parents/guardians.

At the same time, cases of people who, while exhibiting symptoms of the disease, continue to come to work have been observed in recent days, resulting in delays in their diagnosis and the spread of the virus within their workplaces.

It is recalled that people who develop coronavirus symptomatology should self-limit themselves and contact their Personal Physician immediately, who will give them further medical guidance and/or refer them for laboratory examination to the Public Health Clinics.
