The Ministry of Health on Friday announced 272 new cases of COVID-19 disease (positivity rate: 0.62%), identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 34,181.
As announced by the competent Ministry, there are currently no recorded patient deaths, with the final cause of death being COVID-19 and therefore the total number of deaths remains 231.
Meanwhile, 80 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 17 in serious condition.
In addition, a total of 43,958 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 231, of which:
- 154 men (67%), and
- 77 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 80 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 17 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 17 patients critical, 11 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and four in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 43,958 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,350 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 41,608 using the antigen rapid test, 272 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 79 cases from 394 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 33 cases from 1,318 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 11 cases from 344 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 6 cases from 285 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 143 cases from 41,323 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 269 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 25 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
