Once the measures are lifted, the new dog park, located on Agora Street, next to Limassol Municipality Wholesale Market, will be put into operation. Today the Mayor of Limassol proceeded to a media tour of the park grounds.
In a statement, Limassol Mayor Nikos Nikolaidis said it was an area of eight thousand square meters that is divided into three sections. The first section is toys for dogs, the second section is a place where they can be moved along with their owners and the third section is a fenced area where dogs can be released freely.
At the same time he noted that "it is no coincidence that we built this space next to the Municipal Shelter because we do not want the dogs of the shelter to be lonely and certainly with the visitors who will be here, they will be more easily able to find families to adopt them. We expect people and animal fans to enjoy it and we are sure that with their contributions and the cooperation we have had so far, this place will continue to improve even more day by day."
Asked when it would work, the Mayor said that once the measures are lifted and we can operate theme parks, the site will open. "We are ready with the operating regulations, which we have drawn up in cooperation with veterinary services and animal welfare organisations. We have volunteers who will offer work and the officers who will take care of the place. It will be open daily and on weekends, except Thursdays to maintain it."
If there are any thoughts of making more such parks, since this one is on the west side of the city, the Mayor responded positively by clarifying that "an afterthought is to be done in the area of the Inert Materials Rehabilitation Unit in Fasoula, a perhaps larger park than this. It would be good if we could find smaller spaces within the city. We will see what comments will be made to us and we will proceed accordingly."
