Filenews 26 February 2021
Changes are coming to the age of vaccine administration due to the revision of the Ministry of Health's new vaccination coverage scheme for children and adolescents in a GHS environment.
Therefore, on the recommendation of the National Advisory Committee on Vaccination, there are changes in the age of administration of the following vaccines:
1) The vaccine for Diphtheria-Tetanus-(Acellular) Pertussis (Tdap) will be given at the age of 11-12 years instead of at the age of 14-15 years. It is clarified that until 31/08/2021 all children up to 15 years of age are eligible for free vaccination.
2) The HPV vaccine against human papillomavirus will be given at the age of 11-12 years in boys and girls. An extension is given for free vaccination up to the age of 15 for girls only.
It is recalled that with the implementation of the GHS, to cover children with the vaccines necessary for their age, including the above, parents should contact the Personal Physicians (Pediatricians).
Non-beneficiaries of registration in the GHS should contact the Provincial Maternity and Child Protection Centres at the following telephone numbers:
