According to the Police and social bodies, the phenomenon of minors in the province of Paphos using the cars of their parents or relatives is alarming. Not one, not two, but five minors have recently been spotted by the Police in Paphos, the Chrysochous area and the peri-urban area going for a ride, driving cars in four of them and a moped in the fifth case and even in times of pandemic bans.
This serious situation arose during an intensification of traffic operations to combat illegalities related to the Road Traffic Code and to implement the decrees of the Ministry of Health to prevent the transmission of the virus to the community.
Some of the minors had the right to a student licence, but were not accompanied by an adult, experienced driver, while others were not even of student leave age. They even drove cars and mopeds within the residential area, without being taken into action by their relatives.
These new cases, although they came "gathered" magnifying the problem, were not the first illegalities detected having as "protagonists" underage students in Paphos province. A similar or even larger extent is the problem recorded during the operation of the schools in 2020, a competent source told "F".
