A century-old tree originally planned to be cut down as part of the construction of a new kindergarten on the main avenue Nikolaos Nikolaidis, will finally be saved, after the officials decided to move the buildings in a way that would allow that tree, as well as others close to it to be saved.

A related announcement was issued by the Department of Forests, noting that with his intervention and with the cooperation of the Mayor of Paphos, the Technical Services of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, the architect and the contractor of the project, an on-site visit was made yesterday to the site of the construction of the kindergarten on Nikolaos Nikolaidis Street in Paphos.

"During the visit", the communication states, "it was decided to move the premises in such a way as to allow the preservation of a century-old tree of day pine, as well as of the other trees.

This decision will be the best environmental education for children who will enjoy the shade of the tree and learn how it was saved."
