4-8% OF POSITIVE SAMPLES WILL BE SENT TO ECDC FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION FROM NEXT WEEK

 Filenews 3 February 2021

4-8% of positive coronavirus samples in Cyprus will be sent to ECDC for further investigation as to whether it concerns the mutated virus from next week, according to the Ministry of Health.

As mentioned, tests are carried out on a very small sample from ING for the mutant virus, and from next week about 4-8% of our positive samples will be sent to ECDC for further investigation.

It is noted that ECDC has enabled the Member States of Europe to send to the European Agency a percentage of their positive samples for the specialised examination there. The cost of shipping, transport, examination and more will cover ECDC.
