One death of a 72-year-old woman and 139 new cases of coronavirus in Cyprus was announced on Wednesday by the Ministry of Health.
- One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 203.
- 126 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 39 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 28,659 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 139 (positivity rate: 0.49%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 31,263.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Woman, aged 79, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 203, of which:
- 136 men (67%), and
- 67 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 126 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 39 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 39 patients critical, 23 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 12 in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 28,659 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 1,716 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 26,943 using the antigen rapid test, 139 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 43 cases from 238 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 18 cases from 779 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 11 cases from 324 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 238 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
- 65 cases from 26,943 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 137 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
