113 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - FRIDAY

Another fellow citizen dead and 113 new cases of COVID-19 disease announced today Friday 12 February the Ministry of Health.

One person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease concerns a woman, aged 49, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

The total number of deaths is 219. 86 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 29 are in serious condition.

A total of 31,205 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

113 (positivity rate: 0.36%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 32,288.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 219, of which 148 are men (68%), and 71 women (32%).

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 86 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 29 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 29 patients critical, 19 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 7 in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 31,205 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 1,290 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 29,915 using the antigen rapid test, 113 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 30 cases from 203 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 14 cases from 599 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 3 cases from 288 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 4 cases from 9 samples taken as part of a check by the Cyprus Basketball Federation and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation.
  • 62 cases from 29,643 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 169 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 22 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 272 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.

40 cases in the occupied territories

Forty cases were reported by the "Ministry of Health" in the occupied territories today, with 25 of them being domestic, out of 4222 tests carried out, while 43 people were discharged today.

As broadcast from the occupied territories, 15 people were contacts of confirmed incidents and in isolation. 15 incidents were detected in Nicosia, 20 in Kyrenia, 4 in Famagusta, one in Morfos.

The total number of tests in the occupied territories is 462,775 and the 3007 cases. 760 are being treated or monitored, including 173 in hospital and 576 in quarantine hotels. 11 patients are being treated in intensive care.
