POST OFFICE - SENDING MAIL ABROAD

 Filenews 4 January 2021

Cyprus Post Office communicates to inform you about significant changes that are being made, based on international conventions, regarding the sending of mail abroad from 1 January 2021.

According to an announcement by the post office:

  1. 'From that date, the electronic preparation of the consignment note and transmission of consignment data (customs declaration) by the consignor himself shall be compulsory.
  2. This obligation applies to all items containing goods to countries outside the European Union as well as the EPG, EMS Datapost and Package Services, irrespective of destination and content
  3. In order to make it possible to prepare the electronic Shipment Bulletin and transmit the electronic customs declaration, Cyprus Post has prepared the Shipping Tool application, which is available from our website https://www.cypruspost.post/el/shipping-tool, where detailed information is available.
  4. Before depositing any item falling into the above categories, the Senders should prepare the Shipment Bulletin/Customs Statement in advance through the Shipping Tool application, following the instructions listed on the relevant page.

Please prepare the Shipping Bulletins from your home or office before you go to a Post Office. You don't have to print anything in advance, except to write down the reference number that the Shipping Tool app will give you on the object.

Please note that Postal Officers at The Post Office are prohibited from completing any Shipping Bulletin on behalf of customers.

We ask for your cooperation so that the items in the Post Office are handled correctly and quickly to avoid staying in them for a long time, in the difficult conditions created by the pandemic.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
