CYPRIOTS RUN TO THE POLICE FOR E-SCAMS

Rushing... immediately the Cypriots to the Police when they consider that they have been the victims of fraud in the context of banking transactions. Profitics Testing analysed the latest data from the European Commission and concluded that Cyprus is in third place in the ranking of countries with citizens resorting to the Police to report fraud in connection with an online banking transaction, as 78% of Cypriots appear to be seeking the assistance of the police authorities. In first place are swedes (82%) and in second place (79%) Greeks and Spaniards.

On cyber security, Profitics Testing analysed the latest data from the European Commission, which surveyed 27,607 Europeans, to identify which European country citizens are most likely to contact the Police if they find themselves in the uncomfortable position of finding that they have been robbed online.

Countries where more than 70% of citizens would notify the police if they thought they had been the victim of online banking fraud include Lithuania (76%), Finland (75%) and The Netherlands (75%). and Germany (74%), in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.

Cybersecurity research still has an interesting element to do with online identity theft. The Profitics Testing found that Swedes (92%) are more likely to contact the police if they fall victim to online identity theft. In second place is the Netherlands, with 86%. Finland is in third place (83%) followed by Denmark (81%) Cyprus in this category is in the same position as Greece and France, with 77%.
