The Ministry of Health on Friday announced 244 new cases of coronavirus, noting that no deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded.
As a result, the total number of deaths remains at 166.
Specifically, the competent Ministry announced that the 244 new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 28,609. The positivity rate is 2.19%.
Meanwhile, 200 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 57 in serious condition.
It also notes that a total of 11,163 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 166, of which:
- 110 men (66%), and
- 56 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 200 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 57 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 57 patients critical, 30 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 21 in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID -19(PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 11,163 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 2,330 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 8,833 using the antigen rapid test, 244 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 49 cases from 314 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases from 233 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 2 cases from 119 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
- 43 cases out of 1,287 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 8 cases from 346 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 139 cases out of 8,833 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 31 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
