Three people died from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 193, the Department of Health announced Wednesday.
At the same time, the competent Ministry announced 128 new cases of COVID-19 disease (1.05% positivity rate), identified by molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 30,380.
As the competent Ministry notes, a total of 12,133 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
Meanwhile, 155 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 52 in serious condition.
Deaths
The three people who died, with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern a woman, aged 76, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital, a man, aged 80, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Limassol General Hospital and a man, aged 84, with an underlying disease, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 193, of which 130 men (67%) are women. and 63 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 80 years.
Hospitalized
A total of 155 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 52 of whom are in serious condition or in increased care unit conditions.
Of the 52 patients critical, 33 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 15 in an Increased Care Unit.
PCR test and rapid antigen test
Of the 12,133 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 1,756 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 10,377 using the antigen rapid test, in which 128 cases of COVID-19 disease were detected.
In particular, 48 cases were identified from 455 samples, taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 19 cases from 543 samples, taken through a private initiative, 3 cases from 350 samples, taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals and one case from 268 samples, taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
57 cases from 10,377 samples examined using the antigen rapid test were also identified.
Rapid antigen detection tests
In particular, from the rapid antigen tests carried out today, in the province of Limassol 29 positive tests were obtained with the positivity rate reaching 1.67%, from the province of Larnaca 10 with the positivity rate being 1.15%, from the province of Nicosia 10 with the percentage positivity at 0.36%, from Paphos province 1 with the positivity rate reaching 0.33% and from Famagusta province 2 with positivity rate at 1.23%.
Furthermore, the examinations carried out in nursing homes and other structures, national guard camps, athletes and media did not detect any positive cases.
In contrast, tests carried out on construction sites and industries identified 2 cases, while three cases were detected in Departments and Services of the Public and Wider Public Sector.
