SEVENTEEN UNSUITABLE TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES FOUND BY POLICE DURING SPOT CHECKS

Traffic checks on the suitability of trucks and other vehicles were carried out today in Nicosia by members of the Police. A total of 55 vehicles were checked during today's operation, with members of the Police making 17 complaints about various traffic offences.

Among other violations, police members found that two truck drivers were towing their vehicles, a cart for which there was no certificate of fitness in place, another two articulated truck carts did not carry registration plates, while a articulated truck driver was charged with driving his vehicle without brake lights.

During the checks, a person was found to be driving an unregistered vehicle, while a person was found to be driving a truck without holding a driving licence.

A total of six drivers were charged with offences relating to the use of tachographs in their lorries.

The inspection operation was carried out in the areas of Latsia and Kokkinotrimithia, by members of the Traffic Department, the Police Headquarters, specialized in the field of technical and mechanical vehicle controls, with the aim of preventing serious and fatal traffic collisions
