According to a communication from the Ministry of Health, the checks, carried out using the rapid tests method, are part of the Government's strategy for increased controls on the general population, while the use of this method makes it possible to quickly indicate the epidemiological picture in the community and allows action to be taken where and where necessary.

In Paphos through 127 tests in nursing homes and other structures, 350 in Pegia and 282 in the Paphos Centre yesterday 5 positive results emerged.

However, between 5,640 and 64 positive results have been achieved since the start of the programme.

In relation to the positive case identified concerning an employee of the Municipality of Pegia, Mr Lambrou said that the ten employees who were in the same place as this employee as well as himself were placed in self-limit as provided for in the Legislation while the results of the molecular examination PCR and the ten were negative.

In addition, Mr Lambrou said that in the Municipality of Pegia, the Technical Department remains open but the visit of citizens is not allowed until further notice. However, an employee of the Municipality will work to answer the calls of the citizens.
