The death of three COVID-19 patients is announced. The final cause of death is attributed to COVID-19 disease.
In particular, they are:
- Woman, aged 83, with underlying diseases, who was being treated at Limassol General Hospital.
- Male, aged 62, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 84, with a serious medical history, who was treated at Famagusta General Hospital after being transferred from Melathron Fighters EOKA.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 52.35 men (67%) and 17 women (33%), with an average age of 75 years.
In addition, the Ministry of Health informs that a total of 9,984 tests have now been carried out to detect COVID-19.
A. MOLECULAR TEST : Of the 9,984 laboratory tests, 2,924 laboratory diagnoses were carried out using the molecular method (PCR), with 193 cases of COVID-19 disease resulting as follows:
- Of 564 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 88 cases were identified.
- Of 1,142 samples taken through a private initiative, 59 cases were detected.
- Of 344 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 27 cases were detected.
- Of 249 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.
- From 1 sample taken in Larnaca Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 1 case was detected.
- Of 144 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 4 cases were identified.
- Of 16 samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 12 cases were identified.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- From samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 317 laboratory tests were carried out,
- From samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 61 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
- From samples taken as part of the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 86 laboratory tests were carried out.
B. Antigen rapid test: Of the 9,984 tests, 6,060 were performed using the rapid test method, with 108 positive results, identified as follows:

In addition, the molecular test method verified the positive result for 99 samples of positive results detected through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. In addition, four positive results from rapid tests were not verified by the molecular method. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by the PCR method are included in the total number of cases below.
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 11,175.
