PEDESTRIAN KILLED WHILE OUT WALKING IN PEYIA

A 36-year-old has died after being struck by a car while walking with his mother along a road in Paphos, headed towards Peyia, police confirmed on Friday.

The 36-year-old, a Paphos permanent resident initially from Bulgaria, was struck by the car at around 18:35. The driver of the car is a 75-year-old British national, who was headed from Potima to Peyia.

The driver tested negative for both alcohol and drugs.

The 36-year-old was taken by ambulance to the A&E department where the doctor on duty confirmed the Paphos resident’s death. The man had a wife and two children, aged three and six.

The mother of the victim and the driver are both understood to be in a state of shock, while police have closed parts of the road and remain at the scene.
