INTEGRATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES OF KATO PAPHOS - CONTRACT AWARDED

 Filenews 8 December 2020

An old "familiar" of Paphos, has undertaken the great project of the renovation of the archaeological sites of Kato Paphos which was awarded on Monday evening by the Municipal Council of Paphos which acted as the Council of Offers. The municipal authority has confirmed the offer to the contractor Miltiadis Neophytou, which had also undertaken projects during the huge renovation of the commercial and historical center of Paphos over the past four years.

The offer was awarded to Miltiadis Neophytou for two million and 22 thousand euros and in addition to the completion of the works of unification of the archaeological sites.

The award of the offer is estimated to finally put an end to the long-term step of the integration of the antiquities of Kato Paphos, a project that had been prepared to start before the redevelopment projects of the centre and which almost five years later has not yet been possible to complete. Essentially the only development in the matter for three years, was the installation of the 400 meters long footbridge that will connect the western to the eastern part of the archaeological treasures of Kato Paphos, with one end being located at the point where the famous Roman hotel is and the other on the hill of Paprika. The footbridge passes at a great height above The Apostle Paul Avenue, and will allow for an impressive shot to the walkers and visitors of antiquities, when however they will be able to visually enjoy the entire archaeological area of Paphos, after the progress of the wider works.

The great work of the unification of the archaeological sites of Kato Paphos, is considered one of the most important events of recent decades for the city and the province of Paphos, since it will now be possible to further highlight the rare archaeological wealth of Paphos internationally.
