CYPRIOT DRIVING LICENCE RENEWAL

 


Documents required to obtain a Cyprus licence:

A completed TOM 7 application form – only available in Greek.
The form is is available and an English translation of the main headings can be downloaded pdf here. 

The photograph can be taken by staff at the District Offices of the Department of Transport or the CSC.
OR
Two recent photographs which are 45mm in height by 35mm in width and complies with passport photograph standards.

  1. Aliens Registration/Residents Permit and copy(s)
  2. Produce evidence that you have been resident in Cyprus for six months e.g. utility bill. If you don’t have this, or similar proof, you will need to attend the District Offices of the Department of Transport to find out what might be acceptable in your case.
  3. Passport and a copy of the page with the holders details on it
  4. The appropriate fee

When exchanging your licence, the original and two copies of all pages of your national licence (which you will have to surrender).

The cost of the Cyprus licence is:
€ 40 (up to 65 years of age)
Over 65 free

Drivers will be issued with a temporary paper licence. The temporary license will entitle the holder to DRIVE ONLY IN THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS.

The licences are sent to a laboratory abroad to be prepared. You will be notified when they are available for collection at the District Offices of the Department of Transport for your area.

The driving licence is issued up until your 70th birthday.   At that point you will need:

 -a medical and a signed form TOM 153 from a doctor stating that the driver is fit to drive in the following circumstances 

- 6 months of a utility bill [and copy]

- residence permit [and copy]

Please note that the licence can only be issued up to a month before your 70th birthday.  The licence will be renewable every 3 years.

Please note that a medical and signed form TOM 153 will also be required in the following circumstances:

  1. if the driver has disabilities
  2. when applying for licences in categories C, C + E, D, D + E, subcategories C1, C1 + E, D1, D1 + E,
  3. wears special classes G, H, I.
