Five new deaths and 419 new cases of coronavirus announced today by the Ministry of Health. 115 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 21 of whom are in serious condition.
Today's five deaths bring the total number of deaths to 68.
The five people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Male, aged 76, with underlying diseases, who was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
- Man, aged 84, with underlying diseases, who was treated at Limassol General Hospital after being transferred from Clementio Nursing Home, Nicosia Province.
- A man, aged 63, with no underlying diseases, who was treated at the Limassol General Hospital after being transferred from the Kyperountas Multi-PowerEd Centre, Limassol Province.
- Woman, aged 92, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized at Famagusta General Hospital, after being transferred from the Multi-Powered Center of Peristeron, Nicosia Province.
- Woman, aged 91, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized at Famagusta General Hospital, after being transferred from Panagia Nursing Home, Limassol Province.
A total of 10,910 disease detection tests have been carried out, of which 4,208 have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 6,702 using the rapid test.
419 new cases of the disease were identified and confirmed by molecular tests (PCRs), bringing the total number of cases to 13,286. The 419 include 212 verifications from rapid tests of the previous days.
In 218 cases the rapid antigen test had a positive result, which should be verified by the molecular method (PCR).
The total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 disease is 68, of which 44 men (65%) and 24 women (35%). The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 115 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 21 of whom are in serious condition.
Of the 21 patients critical, 10 are intubated, three are hospitalized in the Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and eight in the Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
- Famagusta (59 patients): Increased Care Unit 4, COVID Ward 55
- Nicosia (25 patients): Intensive Care Unit 13 (3 off ventilator), COVID Ward 12
- Limassol (26 patients): COVID Ward 22, Increased Care Unit 4
- Macaer (5 patients): COVID Ward 5
C. Molecular Examination(PCR test))
Of the 4,208 laboratory diagnoses carried out today using the Molecular Method (PCR), 419 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified and verified, resulting as follows:
- 60 cases from 663 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 4 cases out of 915 taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check.
- 121 cases from 1,630 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 19 cases from 361 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 251 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
- 1 case of 98 samples taken from the residents of The Lower Tower of Tylliria.
- 212 cases from 218 samples taken for verification using the molecular test method of positive results detected through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- Samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff completed 50 laboratory diagnoses, and
- From samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 22 laboratory tests were carried out.
D. Antigen rapid test: Of the 6,702 tests carried out using the rapid test, 218 positive results were obtained.
These 218 cases will be examined using the PCR molecular method in order to be verified.
