102 VIOLATIONS DURING THE LAST 24 HOURS

Members of the Police continuing intensive checks to comply with the measures taken to counter the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus in the last 24 hours [12-13/12/2020] carried out a total of 10,472 checks on a cyprus basis. A total of 102 complaints were received during the audits in all provinces.

In detail, in the province of Nicosia there were 4,103 checks and 26 complaints, in the province of Limassol 3,658 checks and 36 complaints, in the province of Larnaca 740 checks and 9 complaints, in the province of Paphos 793 checks and 18 complaints, in the province of Famagusta 864 checks and 13 complaints, while in the area of Morfos 296 checks were carried out, without any complaints. At the same time, members of the Port and Maritime Police carried out 18 checks, but no complaint was made.

In the last 24 hours there have been nine complaints relating to premises. In the province of Nicosia, owners/managers of three premises were charged with violating the Infectious Cleansing Act and are expected to be summoned to court. In Paphos, the owner of a premises was denounced out of court for the sum of EUR 8 000, for incomplete customer information and insufficient markings to maintain distances, and for incorrect use of the protective mask. In addition, in a second case, an out-of-court fine of EUR 500 was issued for incomplete customer information and insufficient markings to comply with distances. In Limassol, in a premises where seated regulars were found, an out-of-court fine of EUR 750 was issued.

With regard to citizens' complaints, in the last 24 hours, there have been 23 complaints of violation of the trafficking order after nine o'clock in the evening (four in Nicosia, eight in Limassol, six in Larnaca, four in Paphos and one in Famagusta) and 33 complaints of non-use of a protective mask outdoors. In addition, the 37 citizen complaints concerned the non-use of a protective mask on vehicles and premises in all provinces.

Checks are continuing at an intensive pace and members of the Police will proceed with complaints there and where violations of relevant decrees are detected.

It is the duty of all citizens to demonstrate similar discipline and responsibility, as well as to respect the personal protection measures taken for the good of all of us.
