YELLOW WEATHER WARNING, SNOW COULD FALL IN TROODOS

Cyprus Mail 30 November 2020 - by Annette Chrysostomou

With storms and more rain expected through the day, the met office has issued a yellow weather warning for Monday, in place until 5pm.

“Isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the area, at first mainly over the coasts but later elsewhere as well. Shower rates may exceed 35mm per hour, with risk of hail,” the met office warned.

It is possible that snow may fall in the higher peaks of the Troodos mountains. Temperatures will rise to 20C inland and near the coast and 10C in the mountains.

At night, they are forecast to drop to around 10C in most places and 3C around Troodos, where frost is likely to form.

During the next three days the weather is not expected to change, with more rain and thunderstorms predicted and temperatures at the same level.
