IMPROVEMENT FOR PAPHOS, WORRYING SITUATION IN NICOSIA AND FAMAGUSTA

The epidemiological data until 24 November published show that the strict measures implemented in Limassol and Paphos had mainly an effect on the provinces of Paphos and less on Limassol. In Nicosia and Famagusta the growth trend recorded last week continues while the reproduction index climbed to 1.1.

Nicosia and Famagusta have seen the largest increase in patients per 100,000 inhabitants for the last 14 days. Nicosia has 284.8 incidents per 100,000 inhabitants, and Famagusta 383.8 incidents per 100,000 inhabitants. Limassol with 465.5/100,000 inhabitants still leads in the negative ranking while Paphos has the least burden in the last two weeks with 120.1/100,000 inhabitants.

The breeding number (Rt) is now at 1.1 with Limassol and Paphos declining due to the measures and now at 0.85, while the rest of Cyprus is between 1.2 and 1.5.

In particular, as stated in the report, up to 24 November 2020, 9,251 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus, with 48 deaths due to COVID-19 (COVID mortality19: 0.5%).

• The cumulative incidence of 14 days of COVID-19 (14-day diagnosed cases per 100,000 inhabitants) is 321.6/100,000.

• In the last 14 days (11-24 November) 2,817 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded: o The median age of COVID-19 cases was 37 years (Intra-fourth-quarteral range: 24-54 years), 48.6% for men (n= 1,396), 49.1% for women (n=1,384) and for 37 cases (1.3%) gender was not currently available. o Based on epidemiological history, 2.6% (n=73) were cases with a recent travel history, 81% (n=2.282) were for domestic transmission cases and 16.4% (n=462) were cases with an unknown epidemiological history. • On November 26, 106 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized. Their median age was 72 years (Endo-fourth molecular range: 63 – 84 years), with 50.9% (n=54) for men. • Among the hospitalized, 15 people were in Intensive Care Units (ICU) on November 26th - 13 people were rescued. The median age of COVID-19 patients in ICU was 69 years (Endo-fourth-molecular range: 64-72 years), while 12 cases (80%) men. Ten people (66.7%) ICU had underlying diseases.

• By 24 November 2020, a total of 587,195 diagnostic tests (67,252 per 100,000 population) have been carried out. In the last 14 days 69,252 diagnostic tests (7,906.4 per 100,000 population) have been carried out.

Introductions to Hospitals and Intensive Care Units (ICU)2

By 24 November, a total of 6% (n=550) of COVID-19 cases received hospital treatment. The median age of people hospitalized is 63 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 48-76 years). Hospital care was mainly for men (n=321, 58.4%).

The median age of people still hospitalized (n=106) is 72 years (Intra-fourth-quarteral range: 63-84 years) and 50.9% (n=54) is for men. 40.6% (n=43) concerns patients from Limassol province while 63 people (70%) reported underlying diseases.

Underlying diseases

Data on underlying diseases in people with COVID-19 in the last 14 days were available for 2,629 (93.3%) Cases. Of these individuals, 778 (29.6%) reported at least one underlying disease.

Deaths

Among people diagnosed with COVID-19 by 24 November, 48 deaths were recorded, with the underlying cause of COVID-19 disease (COVID mortality19: 0.5%). occurred in men and 17 (35.4%) to women.

The median age of people with COVID-19 who died was 76.5 years (Intra-fourth-quarteral range: 68.5-83 years). Twenty-one deaths were reported in the province of Limassol, nine in the province of Larnaca, eight in the province of Paphos, seven in the province of Nicosia and three in the province of free Famagusta.

The median time from the date of sampling to the date of death from COVID-19 was 11 days (Intra-fourth molecular range: 5-16 days).

Among people diagnosed with COVID-19 by 24 November, 64 deaths from each cause were reported (mortality from each cause in diagnosed CASES COVID-19: 0.7%). Mortality (deaths from each cause in people with COVID-19 per 100,000 population) is 7.3. Forty-three deaths (67.2%) occurred in men and 21 (32.8%) to women.

The median age of people with COVID-19 who died was 77 years (Endo-fourth molecular range: 69-84 years). Twenty-eight deaths were reported in the province of Limassol, twelve in the province of Larnaca, ten in the province of Paphos, eight in the province of Nicosia, five in the province of free Famagusta and one death concerns the British bases or residence in the change or no information was available. The median time from the date of sampling to the date of death from each cause in people with COVID-19 was 8.5 days (Intrate-molecular range: 4.5-14.5 days).
