EVANGELISMOS HOSPITAL - SUSPENDS ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT from 1 December

Filenews 17 November 2020 - by Dora Christodoulou

The suspension of its Accident and Emergency Department from 1 December, announced today the private hospital Evangelismos in Paphos. This surprise decision, as explained by the hospital, is due on the one hand to the changes brought about by the GHS with the operation of specialist and personal doctors and, on the other hand, to the absence of a proposal from the OAC on how the TDPs would operate in the way imposed in the new conditions.

Evangelismos describes as a "painful decision" the suspension of the operation of its TAB and announces that after 30 November the area of the TEP will act as an access office for regular scheduled admission of a patient to the Hospital after referral by a specialist or personal physician, for the implementation of a preoperative check, for possible admission of obstetric cases in non-operation hours of the clinics of specialist obstetricians – gynaecologists , as a Department of Daily Nursing in which endoscopies, chemotherapies, daily hospitalization procedures will be performed and as a specially designed covid-19 coronavirus diagnostic examination area.

The management of the private hospital maintains that discussions with the OAC have been under way for many months, in order to reach a clear, fair and binding agreement, as it says, on the integration and operation of its TDP in the GHS, but without ending.

Finally, he expressed his regret and disappointment that while apart from the Paphos Hospital and Evangelismos there are no other licensed accident and emergency departments throughout the province of Paphos, the hospital did not receive any specific proposal from the OAF.
