107 NEW CASES, MONDAY [does not include the 50 positive rapid test results which are now subject to PCR test]

The Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 3,679 laboratory diagnoses identified 107 new cases of COVID-19 disease.

In detail, today's cases emerged as follows:

  • Of 369 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 73 cases were detected.
  • Of 159 samples taken through a private initiative, 6 cases were identified.
  • Of 155 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 9 cases were detected.
  • Of 252 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.
  • Of 776 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 8 cases were identified.
  • Of 107 taken under the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 3 cases were identified.
  • Of 719 samples taken in Limassol Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was detected.
  • Of 435 samples taken in Paphos Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was detected.
  • Of 646 samples taken in nicosia province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 2 cases were detected.
  • Of 61 samples taken in the village of Arsos, 2 cases were detected.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 7,285.

In addition, 55 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital, six of whom are in the Increased Care Unit. In addition, a total of nine patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, three of them off-respirator. Another 11 people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward at nicosia General Hospital.
