Phase two of free PCR tests for workers permitted to travel to and from Paphos and Limassol district will start on Saturday at 2 pm and continue till November 27, the health ministry has announced.
Travel between the districts is permitted on presentation of a negative PCR test no older than seven days and confirmation from employers.
The first phase of testing was marred by huge lines and prompted Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou to issue a personal apology for the inconvenience saying authorities had not estimated the large number of people who would be testing.
Phase one ended on Friday evening, with the Cyprus News Agency reporting that tests had ran out in Limassol, with members of the public forced to visit more than one testing centre in search for a test.
Phase two is for workers whose previous PCR test is more than a week old, or who are testing for the first time.
“The specific programme is only for workers who are exempted (from the travel ban) and can travel to and from Limassol and Paphos districts under the health minister’s decree dated November 12, 2020,” the ministry clarified.
Workers who wish to do the test must bring a written, printed confirmation from their employer as well as ID or passport. They are encouraged to fill in the relevant form online (https://covid19.nipd.com/transitions.php) and bring a print out with them.
All must wear a mask and adhere to distancing rules.
The testing centres will operate from 2-6 pm on Saturday (November 21) and 8 am to 6 pm from November 22-27 at the following locations:
Nicosia:
- GSP Stadium parking area
- Makarios stadium parking area
Limassol
- Spyros Kyprianou Stadium parking area – location A
- Spyros Kyprianou Stadium parking area – location B
- Glafcos Clerides Park, Yermasoyia (Americanas street)
- Former Pissarides (near Ayia Fyla supermarket)
- Social insurance building, Franklin Roosevelt 80
Larnaca
- New GSZ stadium parking areas, location A
- New GSZ stadium parking areas, location B
Paphos
- Stelios Kyriakides stadium, location A, 2-6 pm
- Stelios Kyriakides stadium, location B, 2-6 pm
Famagusta
