A total of 46 positive results emerged on Tuesday from the 2,698 rapid tests conducted by 11 mobile sampling units in Limassol, Paphos, Chrysochous Town, Larnaca and Famagusta.
In detail, the rapid tests carried out by region, as well as the positives obtained, are presented in the table below:
The aim of rapid testing, according to the Ministry of Health, is to provide a quick indication of possible positive cases of coronavirus in the community and to make timely decisions if outbreaks of contamination are detected in specific areas, conduct a free laboratory test program in the general population, using the rapid antigen test method. The programme, which began yesterday, will last 10 days and some 50,000 citizens will be examined through it.
It is recalled that individuals who tested positive for the rapid antigen detection method were informed and remain self-contained until the result is verified by the PCR test.
