152 NEW CASES SUNDAY WITH 114 POSITIVE RAPID TESTS STILL TO BE CONFIRMED BY PCR

The Ministry of Health informs that a total of 7,614 tests have now been carried out to detect COVID-19 disease.

It is noted that 152 cases of coronavirus have been identified, of which 11 concern individuals, who in previous days had tested positive for rapid tests and subsequently underwent a molecular examination and are now officially confirmed as cases. Another 3 positive results from rapid tests were not verified using the PCR method.

Of the 7,614 laboratory tests, 3,213 laboratory diagnoses were carried out using the molecular method (PCR), with 141 cases of COVID-19 disease resulting as follows:       

  • Of 637 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 52 cases were identified.
  • Of 777 samples taken through a private initiative, 41 cases were detected.
  • Of 232 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 15 cases were detected.
  • Of 240 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 3 cases were identified.
  • Of 78 samples taken in Limassol Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 13 cases were detected.
  • Of 702 samples taken in nicosia as part of a check on workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 6 cases were detected.
  • Of 212 samples taken in Paphos Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 5 cases were detected.
  • Of 177 samples taken in Larnaca Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was detected.
  • Of 48 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 3 cases were identified.
  • Of 2 samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 2 cases were identified.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken in Famagusta Province as part of a check of workers subject to the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 24 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
  • From samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 84 laboratory diagnoses were completed.

The 4,401 tests were conducted using the rapid antigen detection method, with 114 positive results.

In total, 119 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, as follows:
