The death of a female patient with COVID-19, aged 82, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized at Famagusta General Hospital and died, is announced. The final cause of death is attributed to COVID-19 disease. The total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 40, 24 men and 16 women, with an average age of 75 years.
With regard to cases, the Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 3,333 laboratory diagnoses identified 127 new cases of COVID-19 disease.
In detail, today's cases emerged as follows:
-Of 638 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 67 cases were identified.
-Of 898 samples taken through a private initiative, 29 cases were detected.
-From 244 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 case was detected.
-Of 250 samples taken under the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 20 cases were identified.
-Of 22 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 2 cases were identified.
-Of 122 samples taken as part of a sample check carried out by the COP in Associations participating in its competitions, 2 cases were detected.
-Of 118 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme, 6 cases were identified.
In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:
From samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated checks, 391 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
From samples taken under the control of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 650 laboratory tests were carried out.
Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases is 7,178.
In addition, 54 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital, six of whom are in the Increased Care Unit. In addition, a total of nine patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, two of them off the ventilator. Another ten people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward at nicosia General Hospital.
