GREAT INTEREST IN A MURAL IN CHLORAKA

 Filenews 11 August 2020

The huge interest of the public has been caused by the mural created by the artist (mural artist) Anatolio Spyridis (Royal Venom) in a building in the community of Chloraka in Paphos, attracting both local residents and lovers of Street Art Graffiti and the Arts in general.

The project was implemented within the framework of the "Narratives on sea-kissed Earth" programme of the ANTAMOSIS Youth Group, with the support of the ReCOVer20 Project of the Cyprus Youth Organisation and the Community Council of Chlorakas. The coordination of the project on behalf of the ANTAMOSIS Group was done by Dimitra Sokratos.

The mural is entitled 'ELEMENTS: Earth | Sea | Sun | Life" and for its creation were used mixed mural techniques (on an area of 4x6 sq.m.), with emphasis on abstraction, graphic elements, street art and calligraphy/ calligraphy. The central circle describes the word 'art' and the other concentric circles indicate the words 'know-dream-thrive | passion-inspiration-energy-truth-freedom | harmony-metamorphosis-unity».

The expectation of this action of the ANTAMOSIS Group is to introduce the public to the art of monumental mural and calligraphy technique, promoting it as an important part of the modern cultural heritage of the place and an integral part of everyday life which enhances social interaction in the public space in the midst of a pandemic.

The creator of the mural, Anatolio Spyrlidis, received a Bachelor of Art Design and Technology at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom. He has been involved in the art of fresco for more than fifteen years and calligraphy for the last five years. He participated in local and international activities, displaying a particularly rich and renowned portfolio (instagram: royalvenom). In 2019 he participated in the 'International Graffiti Mural Event Meeting of Styles' in Prisina (Kosovo), and as a calligraphy artist/artist he collaborated with the Greek streetwear brands KushComa and Vertigo Athens.

Anatolio Spyrlidis will coordinate a Kalligrafiti seminar on Deutsche Pop – Köln in Berlin (Germany) at the end of 2020, while in April 2021 he will participate as a guest artist at the 7th Cyprus International Tattoo Convention (Cyprus). In 2021 he is expected to participate in the International Street Art Festival 'Urban Morphogenesis Graffiti' in Kazan, Russia, creating a large-scale mural work on a multi-storey building in the city within a month.

The PROGRAM for children and young people "Narratives on the Sea" of the ANTAMOSIS Group, which includes this action, promotes psychoemotional empowerment and dynamic management of the negative consequences and challenges of the pandemic. As part of the program, theatrical workshops were held during the month of July by the animator Dimitra Sokratos, animation workshops by the animator-graphic designer Mario Matthew, as well as an action to create a botanical garden in Agios Nikolaos Park in Chloraka.

The exact address of the place where the mural was created is: 33 Xena Kanther Street, 8221 Chloraka, Paphos. Access is easy and the public can visit and be photographed at the spot at any time.
