15 NEW INCIDENTS IN CYPRUS, 7 THROUGH TRACKING

15 new cases of coronavirus were detected today in Cyprus, out of a total of 3,132 laboratory diagnoses.

According to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, out of a total of 3,132 laboratory diagnoses, 15 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were detected.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Of 186 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 7 cases occurred.
  • Of 846 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 1 case was identified.
  • Of 1,081 samples taken through a private initiative, 4 cases were identified.
  • Of 227 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
  • Of 52 samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 2 cases were identified.

Specific:

  • Seven is from the tracker. One took the test privately.
  • One person had symptoms and was referred by PI to the Public Health Clinics.
  • Two are immigrants at the Pornara Reception Center. They were transferred to Eden.
  • 1 is a Cypriot who returned from Amsterdam yesterday, 4/8 and was spotted at the airport on a test submitted due to her arrival from a Category B country.

The other 4 are a private initiative as follows:

  1. One person had symptoms and took the test privately.
  2. The second took the test privately because he was asked by the company where he would start work.
  3. The 3rd is Cypriot who came from Greece on July 29th. He had symptoms and did it privately.
  4. The fourth was private because he intended to travel.

In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • Of the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 99 laboratory tests were completed,
  • From samples taken under the control programme of 10,000 workers re-activated during the second and third phase of the strategy for phasing out the restrictions, 234 laboratory tests were completed, and
  • Of the random sampling programme of 3,000 people, 407 laboratory diagnoses were carried out.

On the basis of the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,195.

In addition, four patients in good general condition are treated in a ward at Famagusta General Hospital.
