Particular attention is recommended to the public by the Police, to protect against fraudulent phone calls from foreign countries and may aim to extract money from citizens who receive phone calls.
According to some reports made to the Police, in recent times, citizens have received missed phone calls from unknown people abroad.
The purpose of similar phone calls from foreign countries that were made in the past, it was found, was to force citizens who received the calls, to call the suspicious telephone numbers by phone, resulting in overcharging their phone bills and the perpetrators being overcharged by telephone charges.
It is not excluded that phone calls from foreign countries that are made at this time are malicious for the purpose of extracting money.
The Police recommend special attention to the public who receive phone calls from such unknown phone numbers.
If citizens have already called the telephone numbers, following an missed call they received, they are encouraged to contact their telephone provider, to check the charge of their telephone account and where a posting of money is found, to make a complaint to the Police Station in the area where they live.
