COVID-19 - A ROUND UP OF THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN CYPRUS

*Cyprus says goodbye to the 8998 SMS service for movement permission as Phase Two of the easing of shutdown restrictions gets underway.
*Primary and lower secondary schools have also reopened today, as have restaurants (outdoors only), hair salons, barbershops and beauty parlours.
*A maximum of 10 people can gather outdoors for exercise as of today, including at swimming pools, but team games are not allowed.

*More than 16.1 million permissions of ‘movement by exception’ were granted over the seven weeks of March 26 to May 20.
*Four people tested positive to Covid-19 yesterday raising the total number of cases in Cyprus to 922.
*3000 tests have been carried out so far islandwide at nursery, primary, lower secondary, upper secondary and technical schools with no new positive cases.
*The British Bases said that they too will begin Phase Two of relaxing measures in step with the Republic of Cyprus.
*Organised beaches are awaiting instructions ahead of reopening this Saturday.
*Betting shops will also reopen on Saturday with a number of changes for staff and customers.
*The Cabinet will decide tomorrow on an action plan to reopen airports and hotels.
*Labour inspectors yesterday closed down three construction sites after carrying out 67 checks on compliance with decrees.
