A 31-year-old man from Russia who was wanted for the attempted murder of a 34-year-old Georgian national in the Tombs of the Kings area in Paphos was arrested in the small hours of Saturday.
According to philenews, police were guarding the area where the Russian lived after the Georgian revealed his attacker’s identity.
The 31-year-old was arrested as he was returning to his apartment in the early hours of Saturday and taken to the Paphos police station where he will be detained until his remand into custody.
Philenews reports that the man is suspected of attacking the 34-year-old with a knife outside the latter’s apartment in the Tombs of the Kings area injuring him in the chest, stomach and upper limbs.
According to police information obtained by philenews, the fight started due to financial differences.
Following the attack, the 34-year-old attempted to enter his car but lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
Neighbours then notified the police and an ambulance took the man to Paphos Hospital where he underwent surgery and is being treated at the ICU, but his condition was described by doctors as out of danger.
