The Blue Cross private hospital in Paphos has suspended operation pending results over suspect cases of Covid-19.
It said that after routine quick tests, one patient who had been referred there from Paphos Hospital had been identified as a suspect case. Two members of staff are being investigated as part of tracing procedures by CING and they have been isolated pending the test results.
Director of Saint George and Blue Cross hospitals Yiogos Kaniklides told CNA that all staff at the hospitals have undergone the quick test. Two tested positive and samples were sent for confirmation.
The patient had been referred from the A&E of Paphos Hospital and he has been transferred to the referral hospital.
Blue Cross is not admitting any patients, is disinfecting and all staff will be tested again.
He added that once the current situation is resolved, Blue Cross will accept patients from Paphos Hospital only with confirmation they do not have Covid-19.
CNA notes that similar measures were taken last week when a doctor at the associate hospital Saint George tested positive.
