Aegean has offered free transport of much needed medical supplies from China, to speed up the process and strengthen Cyprus’ fight against the coronavirus.
According to a statement by government spokesman Kyriakos Kousios, President Nicos Anastasiades held a phone conversation in the morning with the Greek airline’s President Eytychios Vasilakis, who expressed his company’s readiness, in cooperation with Hellenic Petroleum, for the free transport of medical supplies and other equipment to Cyprus.
The President expressed warm thanks and gratitude both personally and on behalf of his government, to Aegean and Hellenic Petroleum for their noble contribution to the people of Cyprus.
The Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus had earlier said that Nicosia and Beijing were seeking a way for the fastest possible arrival of the supplies, a donation from the Chinese government, companies and municipalities connected to Cypriot towns.
