The Departments of Forestry and Civil Aviation have issued advice to the public for Green Monday, March 2.
The former warns the public to refrain from uprooting wildflowers and bushes during their day trips to the countryside and forests, as many of them are either strictly protected or endangered.
It also advises keeping public green areas clean, picking up all our garbage and either throw them in available bins or even take them home as foxes and stray cats and dogs eventually tear plastic bags open scattering the trash inside.
The Forestry Department finally mentions that in some areas, pine trees have been affected by pine moths, also called pine processionaries (pictured below), advising the public to avoid sitting under or near affected pine trees or come into any kind of contact with the pine moths as they cause severe skin rashes and itchiness.
The Civil Aviation Department advises day travellers not to fly kites near the Larnaca and Paphos airports as this may put flights at risk and alarm flight crew.
