Athens has given the green light to sea links between Cyprus and Greece and offered a slot for cruisers to dock at the port of Piraeus, according to Phileleftheros, following a meeting between Cyprus deputy minister for shipping Natasa Pelidou and Greek minister of shipping Yiannis Plakiotakis.
Pelidou outlined to Plakiotakis the government plans for re-introducing sea links between Cyprus and Greece. Plakiotakis said developing sea links is an objective of the Greek government too and expressed readiness to help Cyprus re-establish these links.
The Greek ministry of shipping has promised to give Cyprus a slot at the port of Piraeus and has not ruled out agreeing to an interim stop. Moreover, Athens has said it would help with passport control and health checks at Piraeus and any other port of call, in addition to supporting and promoting this sea link between the two countries.
