The Foreign Ministry has issued travel advice regarding the coronavirus outbreak in China.
It said that citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who live permanently or plan to travel to China are asked to avoid travel to the city of Wuhan/ Hubei district because of an epidemic of a new strain of coronavirus which is transmitted by human contact.
Cypriot citizens are also asked to monitor local and international media on developments regarding the virus and comply with instructions of the authorities of the People’s Republic of China, including individual protection measures, it added.
All public transport in Wuhan has been halted since January 23, including trains and buses to the city. Flights have also stopped. The Chinese authorities are taking measures to protect and inform the public. Similar measures have been implemented in 13 towns in Hubei district.
The death toll in China has risen to 41, authorities reported on Saturday, from 26 a day earlier. More than 1,300 people have been infected globally, most of them in China, with the virus.
